Emotional Disabilities (ED)The ED program provides a continuum of support options for students with social, emotional, and behavior disorders. A positive, strength-based, wraparound team approach provides three levels of support to students.
Level I: Self-Contained Classroom The Level I program provides intensive therapeutic and instructional services to students with behavioral challenges which prevent success in general education settings. Students receiving Level I supports may also include those returning from day treatment, hospitals, or residential programs. The classroom daily program stresses consistency in following rules and emphasizes assuming responsibility for one’s behavior. Level II: Wraparound Level II provides a support network for students attending district-based programs in a variety of special and general education classroom settings such as cross-categorical groupings or inclusion models. Level III: Prevention A proactive, consultative approach is the focus of Level III. The aim is to intervene before problems escalate to the point where a more restrictive educational placement for the student is warranted. School teams receive assistance in developing behavior management plans and communication systems designed to maximize student strengths and reduce or eliminate problem behavior. |
