Vocational Services

LADSE works with its high schools to determine appropriate vocational and academic programs to help 14-21 year old students with disabilities to achieve independence through fulfilling and meaningful employment. A major emphasis is to assist students in their transitions from school, to work, to life as independent functioning adults. To this end, students are provided counseling, job training, coaching and placement, interpersonal skill development, career awareness, educational planning assistance, and transitional linking.

The Vocational Alliance is a partnership of LADSE, its three member high school districts, the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), and local employers. Through academic and vocational experiences, the partnership improves outcomes for students by building bridges to assist students with disabilities in moving from school into the working world.

LADSE also has a valuable affiliation with the grant-funded EmployAlliance/West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Employ Alliance and LADSE's vocational staff together plan for the preparation of the community's work force through economic and work force development, leadership development, transition and employment training and planning.
