LADSE provides
opportunities for individuals age 14 to 21 with disabilities to achieve
independence through fulfilling and meaningful employment. Work
experiences are related to positive student outcomes; therefore a major
emphasis of the Vocational Department is on assisting students in their
transitions from student to work to life as independent, functioning
adults. To this end, participants in the program are provided with
skill development, career awareness, work experience, and transitional
linking. Services include evaluation, counseling, job training and
placement, and educational assistance.
The Vocational
Alliance is a network of school vocational programs, community agencies,
businesses, and services that support the development of vocational and
career building options for students with disabilities in the LADSE high
school districts. Through working in collaboration with transition
and vocational programs such as the Division of Rehabilitation Services
(DRS), the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Program, and the
EmployAlliance/West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WSCCI),
LADSE district students have a direct benefit by being connected with
vocational systems of support for post high school success.
