LADSE provides social work direct services if dictated by the IEP of a student in a LADSE multi-district program.  LADSE social workers also provide supports to the early childhood education evaluation team and the emotional disorders network.  The goal of social work services is to reduce the impact of social-emotional or behavioral issues that might prevent students from benefiting from their special education program.  Social workers on the ECE evaluation team work with parents and LADSE/district staff to determine appropriate services/placement for students entering the public school system; students are eligible for services when they reach their third birthday.  Questions regarding social worker services should be addressed to the coordinator of the ECE or ED programs.
