In cooperation with the member district requests, LADSE has established a coordinated system of building-based training to increase the capacity of individual schools to provide early intervention, prevention and remedial services in the area of reading (aligned with the general education curriculum) to all students.

LADSE has a full-time Reading Coordinator on staff to provide focused professional development and implement a research-based professional development-coaching model to optimize training for both certified and non-certified staff.  Training is offered in a variety of areas including:

Data-based decision making that includes a schedule of progress monitoring for all children

Implementation of a multi-tiered intervention model that promotes early intervention and prevention by increasing the intensity of interventions across tiers in direct response to student need

Research-based literacy and reading programs including core knowledge needed for effective reading instruction in the general curriculum

There is a reading and literacy Media Center at LADSE for the use of its member district staff.
