Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT) services assist students with a disability to benefit from special education.  These disabilities include sensory, postural, and/or motor needs which prevent or significantly limit the students’ ability to benefit from educational opportunities.

Focus

LADSE therapists operate under the educational model where the focus of therapy is placed on building skills and making modifications to support the student in the learning environment. Some direct therapy is conducted; however, emphasis is placed on indirect services, which include the training of educational team members working with the student daily to assure that OT and PT interventions are ongoing.

Equipment

LADSE maintains an equipment inventory to assist therapists in determining the most effective intervention strategies for students.  This inventory includes adaptive seating options, standers, and positioning aids which can be loaned to districts on a trial basis.  LADSE can also draw upon the resources of Infinitec for equipment loans related to Assistive Technology.
