LADSE Professional Development

Professional Development

LADSE recognizes the positive link between ongoing professional development and improved educational outcomes for families. A committee consisting of representatives from LADSE staff, parents, general and special education teachers, and administrators developed a multi-year professional development plan. The primary emphasis of the plan is on utilization of the Response to Intervention model to enhance student performance. Four areas of focus are: early intervention and prevention, improving outcomes for all students, increasing family involvement, and increasing student participation in general education settings.

Staff are encouraged to participate in a variety of professional development opportunities including conferences, institute days, formal education, mentoring programs, networking, etc. LADSE's professional development activities are aligned with the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act and the standards identified by the National Staff Development Council.
